Emporia State University’s second semester begins this week, and President Allison Garrett previewed the upcoming term with the traditional Spring General Assembly on Monday.
Garrett says it will be a busy semester behind the scenes as university administrators begin reviews of the current strategic and campus master plans.
In addition, work is now underway on a new major fundraising campaign after the successful Now & Forever fundraising effort earlier this decade.
Garrett also expressed hope about higher education funding as Laura Kelly, a Democrat, took the governor’s seat following the tenures of Republicans Sam Brownback and Jeff Colyer.
Garrett was pleased with Provost David Cordle’s report following a recent visit last fall by a Higher Learning Commission accreditation site team. In short, it said no major issues need to be addressed at this time.
The spring semester begins Tuesday.
