The stage is set for Governor-elect Laura Kelly’s inauguration Monday.
Noted Kansas writer and journalist Sarah Smarsh is serving as emcee for the event, which will include oaths of office for Kelly and Lt. Governor-elect Lynn Rogers, an invocation from Sister Therese Bangert and a poem from Kansas Poet Laureate and Emporia State professor Kevin Rabas.
Activities begin at the south steps of the Statehouse just before 11 am. An interfaith ceremony runs from 8-9:30 am, with the inaugural ball at the Kansas ExpoCentre starting at 7 pm.
