An Emporia man arrested in December after a chase in Emporia was bound over for trial during a hearing Wednesday.
37-year-old Jon Buchanan of Emporia was bound over on charges of violating the state’s offender registration act during a hearing in Lyon County District Court Wednesday morning. A pretrial hearing is now set for Feb. 22 at 2 pm in that case.
Buchanan and another individual, 29-year-old Chelsea Brooks of Topeka were both arrested Dec. 18 after separate but related chases which originated in the 600 block of Commercial. Both Buchanan and Brooks have been named as persons of interest in the case of a Dec. 16 shooting of an Emporia man in the 800 block of Sylvan.
Both currently face charges associated with the chases but have yet to be charged in connection to the shooting.
