Two days are in the books as the Flint Hills Shootout basketball tournament gears up for semifinal action.
Tourney director Brad Marcotte joined KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment this week. He says playing at White Auditorium is a big deal for the players involved.
Marcotte says things have gone well with one scheduling format change. Instead of the recent plan to have first-round girls games on one day and boys games on another day early in the week, the boys and girls games were alternated.
Another format adjustment is coming. Consolation semifinals will be held Thursday, with championship semis set for Friday.
With the wintry weather possible Wednesday night into Thursday and again Friday night into Saturday, Marcotte says some contingency plans are finalizing.
*Games that cannot be played Thursday will be played Friday.
*If the third-place and championship games can’t be played Saturday, those could be moved to campus sites Monday due to an Emporia State basketball doubleheader at White Auditorium on Sunday and the Lyon County League Tournament next week.
Country 101.7 FM will cover the championship semifinals starting at 3 pm Friday. Our coverage of third-place and championship games begins just after 3 pm Saturday.
