The town of Overbrook will have a sanctioned goose hunt Saturday.
Overbrook City Lake, Overbrook Kid’s Fishing Pond and the walking trails nearby will be closed from 5 am to 6 pm. The hunt is set to go between dawn and dusk.
The town has had ongoing issues with geese the past several years, with the birds contributing to nearly annual issues with toxic blue-green algae. As many as 80 geese were at the town’s lakes last summer.
This is the second scheduled hunt for the town, but it will be the first actual hunt. The initial hunt set for Jan. 5 was canceled due to weather.
Additional hunts are planned for Jan. 19, Feb. 2 and Feb. 16.
