More travel improvements are likely Monday after a lot of icy conditions melted away Sunday.
Road conditions were bolstered by temperatures in the low 30s and abundant sunshine. Conditions were slick for much of the weekend after about half an inch of rain Friday followed by an inch or more of snowfall. There are still some icy intersections and residential streets are still largely slick.
An incoming storm system could give us some wintry weather Tuesday. TV-13 meteorologist Doug Meyers says the better chances of icing are near the Kansas-Nebraska border — although a cold front could give us a flash freeze if we do get any wet precipitation Tuesday.
Once that storm system clears the area, conditions will settle down for a while. The rest of the week should have mostly sunny conditions with high temperatures in the 30s and low 40s.
Before that storm system gets to us, Monday will be a windy day. A wind advisory is up for Greenwood County from 12-9 pm for southerly winds as high as 40 mph. The rest of the area can expect winds up as high as 35 mph.
