(ESU) Emporia States Carey McLeod has been named the MIAA and USTFCCCA Track and Field – Field athlete of the week.
McLeod became the first Hornet to go over 25 feet indoors in the men’s long jump with a mark of 25-01.25. He won the event with the mark that is also an automatic qualifier for the National Championship meet and ranks second in the nation in Division II. McLeod won the 60m dash in a time of 6.82 that leads the MIAA, ranks eighth in Division II and ties the fifth fastest time in Emporia State history.
He has also been named has been named the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) NCAA Division II National Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.
