Further details on a two-vehicle injury accident which occurred in central Emporia Thursday afternoon have been released.
According to a press release from the Emporia Police Department, 41-year-old Mario Palma-Linores of Emporia was traveling south on Mechanic St. in a Toyota passenger car while 86-year-old Warren Ireland also of Emporia was traveling east on 4th Ave. The two vehicles then collided in the intersection.
Ireland was taken by ambulance with a cut above his eye to Newman Regional Health. A passenger in the Mitsubishi, 91-year-old Nona Thomas of Emporia was unharmed as was Palma-Linores.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene and all occupants were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Ireland was cited for careless driving.
