The Emporia High girls basketball team will be playing for 3rd place in the Glaciers Edge Tournament Saturday.
The Lady Spartans were defeated by Topeka Seaman 44-31 in the semi-finals Friday. Seaman scored the games first 6 points and never trailed. Emporia High struggled offensively shooting only 39 percent from the field and made 7 of 17 free throws. Topeka Seaman led 14-4 after the first quarter, 25-14 at halftime and 35-23 going to the 4th quarter. Their largest lead in the 2nd half was by 19 points. Emporia High girls Coach Carolyn Dorsey said the defensive effort was not as good as it was Thursday in the win over Topeka High.
Taylor Milleson was the lone Lady Spartan to score in double-figures finishing with 10 points.
Emporia High will play Wichita Northwest in the 3rd place game at 12:30p. The game will be broadcast on KVOE 1400AM/96.9FM.
Wichita Northwest was defeated by Derby 55-26. Derby and Topeka Seaman will play in the Championship game at 2pm.
Topeka High will play Goddard Eisenhower in the 5th place game at 11am in the main gym. Topeka High defeated Shawnee Mission South 58-47. Eisenhower defeated Shawnee Mission North 69-28.
In the 7th place game at 11am Shawnee Mission South will play Shawnee Mission North in the north gym.
