Potential trial dates were set in several notable cases during separate hearings in Lyon County District Court on Friday:
State v. Lannie Lyman
Lyman could go to trial April 22 or May 13. She’s accused of stealing over $110,000 from the Emporia Senior Center from early 2016 through September 2017. She faces one count of theft and has a motions hearing April 4.
State v. Marquise Richardson
*Richardson has possible trial dates of April 2 or April 29, with a motions hearing slated for March 27. He has been charged with cocaine distribution, marijuana distribution and other counts after allegedly selling drugs as part of Emporia Police controlled buys during an investigation in October. Richardson’s request for a bond modification was denied by Judge Jeff Larson.
State v. Luciano Salazar
*Salazar could have trial as early as Feb. 19 or as late as April 8. He’s charged with two counts each of distributing meth within 1,000 feet of a school, no drug tax stamp and illegal use of a communication facility as well as a single count of criminal in possession of a firearm, after allegedly selling meth within 1,000 feet of William Allen White School during two Emporia Police controlled buys in May 2018. Salazar’s request to change his defense attorney was denied by Judge Jeff Larson.
Separately, Derek Gormly had his sentence adjusted after convictions of aggravated indecent liberties and lewd and lascivious conduct against a then-13-year-old girl in late 2016. Lifetime post-release supervision was changed to lifetime parole after guidance by the Kansas Court of Appeals in a ruling from February 2018.
