Emporia Police now say it will be at least Monday before more details are released about a shooting incident in east Emporia on Saturday night.
The incident at Terra Park Apartments, 1201 East Triplett, was reported around 9:45 pm and eventually led to one man being taken by ambulance to Newman Regional Health for treatment. Police on site said the victim was shot once, with a projectile hitting both the man’s legs.
The victim’s name has not been released and his condition is unknown.
Authorities have not released any other details so far. They have also not mentioned whether there is a suspect in this case.

10:30 pm Saturday: Investigation underway; man taken to NRH after shots fired call Saturday night
One man was taken to Newman Regional Health after he was shot Saturday night.
Emporia Police and Emporia/Lyon County EMS were called to the Terra Park apartment complex in the 1200 block of Triplett Drive around 9:45 pm after a shots fired call. Lyon County deputies and Emporia State University Police and Safety also responded.
Police Sgt. DJ Dragonas tells KVOE News the victim was apparently shot once, but the bullet hit both legs. The victim’s name has not been released. A condition report is pending.
Investigators began combing the area shortly after the shooting was reported and may continue their work through the overnight hours. Further details may not be available until Monday.
