Emporia’s Underground Utilities Department will conduct more work in the next few days on what was first reported as a potential water line break.
A 6-inch main developed a leak in the 800 block of East 12th on Friday. Department supervisor Mike Dvorak says preliminary work took place through Friday. Additional work to find the actual leak — which is near the junction of three different lines — could start as soon as Monday.
Water from the leak remained on 12th Avenue for much of Saturday and may refreeze overnight.
