Wind advisories have been issued for four counties in the KVOE listening area.
With cold temperatures in the forecast Monday which will drop into the low 20’s by midday, mother nature has now added to the mix with wind gusts between 25-35 miles per hour throughout the day. The northerly winds will help to push daytime wind chills to the single digits with nighttime lows expected to drop well below zero.
As a result the National Weather Service has issued two wind advisories for surrounding counties. Morris and Wabaunsee counties are in a wind advisory from 6 am to 6 pm Monday. Chase and Greenwood counties are in a separate yet similar advisory also from 6 am to 6 pm Monday.
If the forecast holds, this will be the coldest weather so far this winder season, however, still milder than areas in the Northern Plains and Great Lake Regions. Overnight lows in areas such as Wisconsin will be in the -20 to -30 range Wednesday evening with wind chills as low as -60.

12:35 Saturday Jan. 27: Blustery Blast of Cold Air Coming
Mother Nature is lining up a shot of cold air for the KVOE listening area later this week.
After high temperatures close to 50 degrees Sunday, overnight lows will dip to near freezing. Temperatures are forecast to keep sliding all through Monday, dropping to the low 20s by sunset and the mid-teens overnight. Gusty northerly winds will be evident all day, pushing daytime wind chills to the single digits and nighttime wind chills below zero.
Tuesday could see another blustery day with high temperatures around freezing, but another burst of cold air hits the area Tuesday night as low temperatures dip to near zero. Wednesday’s high temperature are only forecast to reach the upper teens with lows between zero and 5. Wednesday night wind chills could range anywhere from -10 to -25.
If the forecast holds, this will be the coldest weather so far this winter season, but it will also be milder than what parts of the Northern Plains and Great Lakes regions get. Overnight lows in places like Wisconsin will be in the -20 to -30 range Wednesday night with wind chills as low as -60.
