It takes hard work to care for local animals who may be lost or displaced in the community.
Just ask the staff of the Humane Society of the Flinthills who put in that hard work to ensure all animals are cared for and safe. Humane Society Executive Director Caitlin Flood recently joined KVOE’s Talk of Emporia and says so much effort goes into providing displaced animals with good homes.
Flood adds the efforts are not limited to just the staff of the Humane Society either. According to Flood the Society depends greatly on donations and assistance from the surrounding community where residents provide both monetary and essential donations such as kitty litter, treats, food and milk for kittens just to name a few.
The Humane Society also offers several opportunities for pets to connect with their owners as well. One such way they do this is by providing obedience classes.
Flood says these classes are a great opportunity for bonding between owners and their furry friends.
Flood stresses these are very much “beginner’s classes” which teach the basics for animals and owners. There are 6 scheduled sessions throughout the year each involving three classes.
The first session is scheduled for March 5th. the cost of which is $35. The classes will all be held on the east side of Peter Pan Park.
