The Kansas City Royals and Whit Merrifield have agreed to a 4 year contract for $16.25 million dollars.
Royals General Manager Dayton Moore announced the signing.
It includes $2 million in performance bonuses and contains fourth- and fifth-year club options that could bring the total value of the contract above $30 million for Merrifield.
Merrifield is coming off a season in which he led the Majors in hits 192 and stolen bases 45, while establishing himself as one of the premier super utility players in the sport.
