Expect bitterly cold temperatures as we get into midweek.
Air temperatures slid from the low 40s to the mid-30s around sunrise and will push down to the upper 20s by the evening drive home. Meanwhile, winds as high as 40 to 50 mph will help to drive the wind chills into the low teens. Wind advisories currently affect Lyon and all surrounding counties until 6 pm.
Even colder air comes in late Tuesday as air temperatures around zero combine with northerly winds around 20 mph to produce wind chills from -10 to -25.
Already, we have had one schedule adjustment for Tuesday:
*Emporia Senior Center has canceled Tuesday’s bingo.
