With their new Emergency Department now online, Newman Regional Health is in the process of moving their final components in the coming weeks.
NRH CEO Bob Wright joined KVOE’s Newsmaker 2 segment Tuesday morning and updated listeners on how operations have been going since the hospital officially opened it’s new $15 million emergency department to the public earlier this month. According to Wright in terms of workflow, everything is working exactly as they hoped.
Wright also says he has heard turnaround numbers are looking very positive, however, he will not know the full extent of those statistics until he receives reports at the end of the month. While the new ED provides much more convenience for patients, as it triples the size of the previous ED and doubles the number of beds, it also carries several benefits for staff.
According to Wright, this includes more space for staff to work and new amenities making certain duties much easier.
The hospital is currently in the process of moving their final pieces into place for the ED. The Clinical Decision Unit or patient observation moved to the ED before lunchtime Tuesday.
Work to move a new cath lab holding area and infusion clinic to the department will begin next week.
Over the next two years, the previous ER will become the site of the hospital’s physical therapy services as that department will make its way over from its current location at the Twelfth Avenue Professional Building at 12th and Chestnut.
