The coldest air of the season is upon us this week. Which means it’s not too early, believe it or not, for the National Weather Service to roll out its schedule of annual storm spotter training sessions.
The Weather Service holds these training sessions in every county, offering basic information on storm structure, storm risks, spotting do’s and don’ts and reporting procedures. Lyon County’s spotter training session will be held March 11 from 7-9 pm at the Bowyer Community Building. Other sessions:
*Chase County: April 2, 6:30-8:30 pm, Chase County Community Building
*Coffey County: March 27, 7-9 pm, Coffey County Fairgrounds 4H Building
*Greenwood County: March 6, 6:30-8:30 pm, Eureka High School Auditorium
*Morris County: Feb. 27, 7-9 pm, Morris County Courthouse
*Osage County: March 14, 7-9 pm, Schuyler Community Center in Burlingame
Wabaunsee County’s annual training session has not yet been listed.
