If a push to end daylight saving time ever got to Kansas voters, KVOE listeners are largely in favor of taking that step.
Recent social media polls ended Thursday with nearly 1,300 votes tabulated. Nearly 900 approved having a standard time across Kansas.
Results of the poll were not scientific.
House Bill 2008 would eliminate a time change as soon as this November if passed by lawmakers and signed by Governor Laura Kelly. A vote of the people is not part of this process.
Supporters of having standard and daylight saving time say there are energy savings to be gained and there would be a lot of confusion in the Kansas City metro area with the Kansas and Missouri sides having different times for several months a year if this is passed. Opponents say it’s costly overall and a possible health hazard.
