Two significant product recalls are in effect as of this week, although one affects local retailers and the other does not.
Tris Pharma has expanded a recent recall of infants’ ibruprofen that was originally announced in early December. Six lots of “Infants Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP (USAID) 50 mg per 1.25 mL” are now involved instead of three as first announced.
The company says the drug is more potent than listed, so there is a “remote possibility” infants could have adverse reactions including headaches, nausea, vomiting and what’s called epigastric pain, or discomfort right below the ribs. In more serious cases, tinnitus, diarrhea and gastrointestinal bleeding are possible as well.
The pain reliever was sold under Walmart, CVS Pharmacy and Family Dollar house brands. Expiration dates include the end of this month, April 2019, August 2019 and December 2019.
Meanwhile, Tyson Foods has recalled over 36,000 pounds of panko-breaded chicken nuggets because of potential rubber contamination. The nuggets were produced Nov. 26.
The recall specifically involves 5-pound plastic packages best used by Nov. 26, 2019 with the case code 330SDL03.
Local stores Country Mart, Dillons and Walmart say they are unaffected by this recall.
