Kansas Gas customers could see their monthly bills go up — and soon.
On Tuesday, the Kansas Corporation Commission is poised to consider a rate increase. Communications Director Dawn Tripp says the rate increase offsets ongoing capital investments nearing $180 million over the past two years, and the new $21.5 million request reflects both input from several stakeholders and new federal tax policy.
Kansas Gas originally asked the KCC for permission to increase rates by over $45 million this past summer. Included in the current request are operations expenses like employee wages and benefits, as well as maintenance costs.
This means an average increase of $2.40 a month for residential customers if approved.
