Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes landed a pair of honors at NFL Honors on Saturday night, taking The Associated Press 2018 MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards.
In his second pro season, Mahomes led Kansas City to its first AFC title game since 1993. Mahomes received 41 votes from a nationwide panel of media members who regularly cover the league.
He threw 50 touchdown passes and 5,097 yards.
8 were voted into the pro football hall of fame Saturday night. Former Chiefs tightend Tony Gonzalez was voted in on his first try. So were Ed Reed and Champ Bailey. Former Chiefs safety Johnny Robinson will also be enshrined in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio, this summer.
They will be joined by fellow enshrinees Ty Law, Kevin Mawae, Pat Bowlen and Gil Brandt.
