Emporia Fire handled two small blazes Saturday.
The first happened around 1:30 pm after materials caught fire in a dumpster near 12th and Cottonwood. Battalion Chief Rich Gould tells KVOE News firefighters filled the dumpster with water to get the fire out. A cause has not been determined.
Shortly before 7 pm, firefighters were called to 519 Stratford for an electrical fire. Gould says a malfunction in the electrical box triggered the small fire, although he says a more significant incident was likely had the fire gone unattended for much longer.
No injuries were reported with either fire.
