No injuries were reported after a chimney fire developed west of Emporia Thursday evening.
Emporia Fire was called out to the 1700 block of Road E shortly before 6:30 pm Thursday evening. Batallion Chief Ryan Conley says the family of the home in question discovered the fire inside the chimney and called 9-1-1.
Conley adds the fire was contained to the firebox and chimney and was out before crews arrived on scene.

This was the second chimney fire which occurred Thursday. Emporia and Hartford Neosho-Rapids crews were called out to a chimney fire which developed in the 1800 block of Road 90 around 9 am.
That fire was also out upon crews’ arrival.
No injuries were reported in either fire. The cause of the fires has yet to be determined.
