The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Barry Saturday.
The Lady Hornets won the first game 15-1. They scored 5 runs in the 3rd inning highlighted by a grand slam hit by Hanna Steeby. Emporia State scored 7 runs in the 4th inning. Destiny Ojigoh was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and 3 rbi. Montana Mesler was the winning pitcher, giving up 1 run in 2 hits with 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.
Barry won the 2nd game 9-1. Hanna Steeby hit a solo homerun for Emporia State lone run.
The Lady Hornets are now 1-3 for the season. They will close out their trip to Florida today with a doubleheader against Lynn.
