A new grant has helped Emporia Child Care take a major step towards completing their first fundraising campaign.
ECC was recently announced as the recipient of a $750,000 grant from the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust to aid their consolidation effort to bring the children in their care under one roof. With the addition of the grant the campaign now sits at $1.5 million with a final goal of $1.8 million.
ECC Director Deb Crowl says since receiving the grant, there has been a ton of excitement throughout the organization.
ECC Board Chair Lisa Kirmer believes the grant is the push they need to reach their goal.
The consolidation effort will see the agency combine their operations under one roof at 1320 C of E Drive. Kirmer tells KVOE News the consolidation will not only provide more convenience to parents and staff but will also allow the agency to expand its capacity and increase their available services.
The Jones grant is a challenge grant which means ECC still has a few requirements to meet before they will officially receive the funds. Crowl explains.
The campaign has been ongoing for several years now and Crowl is hoping they will wrap up fundraising as ECC prepares for its 50th anniversary in 2021.
