USD 251 Northern Lyon County held its February Board of Education meeting on Wednesday evening in Americus.
This meeting saw many items on the agenda, including the implementation of two major programs.
One of these programs proposed adding an Honor Flight Program to the district. Honor Flight Programs are common in the local area, and Superintendent Mike Mathes says there has been much support for incorporating the program.
The second major proposal discussed a potential partnership with CrossWinds Counseling & Wellness. Mathes explains that this opportunity would help students battling mental health issues.
Both proposals were unanimously approved. Other motions that were discussed involve a partnership with Council Grove for a wrestling program and the addition of a summer school program. The next USD 251 Board of Education meeting will be on Mar. 20th at 7:00 pm at the board office in Americus.
