Chances of snowfall are possible Friday as another winter storm system prepares to make its way through the area.
According to the National Weather Service, two inches of snowfall are expected, while WIBW is calling for a possibility of six inches area wide. Either amount is likely to bring with it slick travel conditions.
TV 13 Meteorologist Jeremy Goodwin has more information on what local residents could expect to see over the next few days.
Winter weather advisories blanket the eastern half of Kansas, including the entire KVOE listening area from 6 am to 6 pm Friday.
A few schedule adjustments have been announced:
*Lebo basketball vs. Southern Coffey County moved from Friday to Thursday
*Lyndon basketball vs Madison moved from Friday to Thursday
*Emporia PEO Council event at Emporia Country Club rescheduled from Saturday, Feb. 16 to Mar. 2 at 10:30 am
City and county crews will be on standby and as always are ready to begin treating roads if they begin to become hazardous. According to Lyon County Engineer Chip Woods county crews are freshly stocked up on treatment materials after the recent brush of wintry precipitation that impacted the area.
City Street Supervisor Mike Dvorak tells KVOE News they are also good on treatment materials, however, if the winter weather persists getting salt may become a bit tougher.
A lighter snow is possible Saturday afternoon, and marginal to moderate chances of snowfall are in the picture Monday and Tuesday.
