SOS has announced a $3.1 million capital campaign as it plans to consolidate several related operations under one roof.
The Stronger Together campaign has already generated $1.4 million during the quiet phase, according to a news release issued this week.
The signature piece of the work ahead is to buy the building at 1420 C of E Drive, occupied in part by KVOE, to create the SOS Advocacy and Outreach Center. The plan is to combine all SOS services, including advocacy services and the SOS Emergency Center, into one location with the goal of helping to improve client service delivery and enhancing access to service.
The campaign includes a leadership gift through the WS and EC Jones Testamentary Trust and a $430,000 so-called capstone challenge grant from the JE and LE Mabee Foundation of Tulsa, Okla. To access the capstone grant, though, SOS has to raise almost $1.3 million in gifts and pledges by December.
Renovations could begin by the end of this year.
SOS was founded in 1976 to help rape survivors. It expanded with the formation of CASA of the Flint Hills in 1995, the Child Visitation and Exchange Center in 1999 and the Child Advocacy Center in 2002.
