The Emporia State baseball team swept a doubleheader from William Jewell Thursday.
Emporia State won the first game 4-3 on a Walk-off single by Paul Claassen. Alex Pener drove in the first Hornet run with a single in the 4th inning. Aaron Dees hit a 2 run home run in the 6th. William Jewell tied the game in the top of the 9th.
The win is the first of the season for the Emporia State baseball team.
The Hornet won the 2nd game 10-3. Cooper Minnick was 3 for 5 with a RBI and run scored. Alex Pener was 2 for 4 with 2 RBI.
Josh Norlin was 3 for 3 with 2 runs scored and a RBI.
Hayden Schaeffer was the winning pitcher. The Hornets are now 2-4 for the season. They area scheduled to host Central Missouri next Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
