9 Emporia High wrestlers qualified for state on day 1 of the 5A regional tournament at Bonner Springs. 2 Spartans will wrestle for a regional championship.
6 Spartans earned wins in the first round. 5 advanced to the championship semi-finals. Levi Buckridge at 126 and Drew Baker at 195 advanced to the championship match. By advancing to the semi-finals Ethan Garate, Anthony Delgado and Whitney Hall qualified for state. Brooks Sauder at 106, Efren Palomares at 145, Isaac Huber at 160 and Dalton Leek at 285 qualified for state after advancing to the consolation quarterfinals. As a team Emporia High is in 5th place. Bonner Springs is in 1st place. The regional tournament wraps up Saturday.
