The American Democracy Project (ADP) has been a part of campus life at Emporia State Univesity for around 15 years now.
The ADP began in 2003 with the goal to produce college graduates that have the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to be informed, engaged members of their communities. The top priority of the ADP to see this goal realized has been through civic involvement in communities.
Rob Catlett, an associate professor of economics at ESU, is the head of the university’s involvement with the ADP. Catlett talks about how the project has gained momentum.
Now over 250 state universities have integrated the ADP into campus life. At ESU, a big project was to raise student voter registration. Catlett talks about how this success played into the 2016 presidential election.
Through the American Democracy Project, ESU has hosted several other community projects, and there are many more to come. Visit the ADP website at http://www.aascu.org/ADP/ for more information.
