Nine Spartan wrestlers are heading to the state championship tournament next weekend.
The Spartans sent 14 wrestlers in total to the 5A regional tournament in Bonner Springs this weekend. Senior Drew Baker and sophomore Levi Buckridge both qualified with second place finishes at 126 and 195 pounds. Whitney Hall finished in third place while Ethan Garate and Anthony Delgado finished in fourth.
Dalton Leek placed seventh and Isaac Huber, Efren Palomares and Brooks Sauder finished in eighth.
Spartans Head coach Brooke Medrano says his team fought hard.
As a team, EHS finished in 6th place. Bonner Springs won the team championship, Blue Valley was second and St. Thomas Aquinas was third.
The state tournament will take place Friday and Saturday in Park City at Hartman Arena.
