Two Lyon County agencies are receiving grant money through a federal program.
Community Corrections is receiving over $41,000 as part of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant program, while SOS has secured almost $43,000.
The grant program is described as a partnership involving federal, state and local governments to create safer communities and improve criminal justice systems. The so-called JAG program is designed to address crime and bolster public safety through several ways, including the reduction of recidivism, improving law enforcement technology and safety, improving victim services and supporting projects that enhance the state’s criminal justice information system.
