Updates to the Lyon County History Center are continuing as the second-floor renovations move forward.
The second floor of the History Center houses the building’s many exhibits, which range from natural history to early farming techniques to Native American history and more.
A grant from the Emporia Lions Club made this expansion possible, and Executive Director Greg Jordan is asking for public input to fill the new spaces. A contest has sparked to incentivize participation, and Jordan goes over the details.
Jordan encourages the public to submit stories about people, places, and events from the local area for the chance to become a ‘guest curator.’
Also on the History Center’s calendar is the rescheduled ‘Pop Up Museum’ from the students at Village Elementary School. Jordan talks about why this is important to the kids and the History Center.
To submit a story for the chance to be a ‘guest curator,’ visit the Lyon County History Center and ask for a form, or fill one out online at explorelyoncounty.org.
