Three more area counties have now been placed under winter weather advisories with wintry precipitation now impacting the KVOE listening area.
Lyon, Osage and Wabaunsee counties have been placed in a winter weather advisory until 3 am Wednesday morning. They join Greenwood and Coffey Counties which were both placed into advisories earlier Tuesday.
Greenwood County is in an advisory from midnight Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday while Coffey County’s advisory runs from 9 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday.
Light drizzle has begun falling in the KVOE listening area and TV-13 weather caster Peyton Sanders says residents can expect it to turn to freezing drizzle as temperatures continue to drop into the 20’s through the evening.
The precipitation brings with it chances of isolated icing and possible ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch in some areas. Motorists should exercise caution if on the roadways in the evening or early morning.
Chances of freezing drizzle are possible through the early morning hours Wednesday.

Tuesday 5 pm: Coffey, Greenwood counties placed in winter weather advisory ahead of possible winter precipitation
Winter weather advisories have been issued for two area counties as freezing drizzle is possible through the evening hours.
Greenwood and Coffey counties have been placed into two separate weather advisories. The Greenwood advisory is in effect from midnight Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday while the Coffey County advisory is in effect from 9 pm Tuesday to 6 am Wednesday.
Chances of drizzle are expected to begin in the evening hours and will likely turn to freezing drizzle with temperatures dropping into the 20’s throughout the KVOE listening area according to TV-13 Weather Caster Peyton Sanders.
The current forecast calls for isolated icing with accumulations up to a tenth of an inch possible in some areas. Motorists are asked to drive with caution as isolated slick spots are possible on some roadways throughout the evening into tomorrow morning.
Chances of freezing drizzle mixing with sleet are also possible through the early morning tomorrow which could create travel difficulties.

Tuesday 5:43 am: Patchy freezing drizzle possible Tuesday night, Wednesday morning
Spotty freezing drizzle is possible across the KVOE listening area starting Tuesday.
A slight chance of drizzle exists in the forecast starting by early evening. If that develops, it would likely turn to freezing drizzle as temperatures go from afternoon highs in the mid–30s to an overnight low around 20 degrees.
There is also a slight chance of freezing drizzle mixing with sleet Wednesday.
The current forecast calls for isolated icing with minimal accumulations. Slick spots could be spotty as well.
