The Emporia High girls basketball team gave it a valiant effort but came up short, losing to Topeka Seaman 49-42 in the sub-state semi-finals Wednesday night.
The Lady Spartans led after the 1st quarter 9-8. They were tied at halftime at 19. In the 3rd quarter Emporia High held a 9 point lead 30-21. Seaman would begin their game ending run out scoring the Lady Spartans 9-2 to close out the quarter. Emporia led 32-30 going to the 4th quarter. In the 4th quarter Seaman out scored Emporia High 19-10 for the 7 point win. Lady Spartan Coach Carolyn Dorsey was proud of the effort.
Taylor Milleson led Emporia High with 14 points. Rayanna Breshears finished with 12 points and Mya Tovar added 11 points. The Lady Spartans finish the season with a 8-13 record.
