The Emporia High boys basketball team was out scored by Kansas City Schlagle 66-63 in the 5A Sub-State semi-finals Thursday.
It was a close game throughout. Schlagle led 14-10 after the first quarter. They held a 25-23 lead at halftime. The Spartans trailed 42-37 going to the 4th quarter. Emporia High trailed 64-63 with 19 seconds to play after a Skyler Douglas 3 point shot. Emporia High Coach Beau Welch said they gave up to many easy shots.
Jace Stewart was the leading scorer for Emporia High with a career high 18 points. Connor Hoyt added a career high 15 points and Kyler McCullough finished 10 points.
