The Emporia State softball team was 1-1 on day one of the Springfield Invitational Thursday.
Quincy scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning to out score the Lady Hornets 7-6. Emporia State was leading 6-3 going to the bottom of the 7th inning. Quincy scored 4 runs on 3 hits and left the bases loaded.
In their second game Cassidy Beem scored the go ahead and game winning run in the top of the 8th inning of a 10-9 win over Lewis. Beem was 2 for 3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Emporia State wraps up play in the Springfield Invitational Friday with games against Illinois-Springfield and Purdue Northwest.
