The Emporia State softball team closed out play in the Springfield Classic Friday with a win over Illinois Springfield and a loss to Purdue Northwest.
The Emporia State softball team out scored Illinois Springfield 8-5. The Lady Hornets scored 3 runs in the top of the 7th to earn the win. Kelsey Phillips hit a bases loaded double to drive in the 3 runs. Phillips also doubled in a run in the 4th inning. Cassidy Beem hit a solo homerun in the top of the 1st inning for Emporia State.
Purdue Northwest out scored the Lady Hornets 3-1 in the days 2nd game.
The Emporia State softball team is now 4-11 for the season.
