The Emporia Lions Club lived up to their motto “We serve,” by serving up a hearty breakfast for local residents Saturday.
The annual Lions Club Biscuits and Gravy feed was held at the Emporia Senior Center. The center was full from start to finish with hungry visitors looking forward to the delicious meal of sausage, fruit and of course a nice big helping of fresh biscuits and gravy.
Lions Club member Sall Conard says the annual event is always enjoyable, and it takes a lot of hard work in order to feed the masses.
All proceeds from the biscuits and gravy feed go back to the Lions Club and helps to fund their numerous projects throughout the community. Conard says the Lions Club always has something in the works, namely providing the local area with free eye care services.
Conard adds, all of the ingredients for the meal are provided by local sponsors and she says the local community support is what keeps the annual fundraiser going. All who came through the senior center Saturday left full and with a smile on their face.
Totals from the event will be announced at a later time.
