The Madison Bulldogs’ season came to an end in the sub-state semifinals with a 52-24 loss to Caldwell Friday night.
Madison would jump out to a quick 6-0 lead in the first before a 15-3 lead would see Caldwell go up 15-9 at the end of the first. In the second quarter, Caldwell would extend their lead to nine 28-17 at the half.
In the second half, Caldwell held Madison to just one point in the third and would close out the game with a 12-4 run in the fourth to advance to the substate championship.
Madison head coach Bret Dannels says his team never quit.
Madison was led in scoring by sophomore Chase Harrison with 13 points. Caldwell had three players in double digits led by senior Jallen Risley with 17 points. Sophomore Dru Volavka and senior Corbin Rice both had 13.
Caldwell now advances to the substate championship game Saturday where they will face Moundridge who defeated St. Paul 62-57 in OT.
