Lyon County commissioners have various infrastructure matters to discuss — and possibly approve — when they have their weekly action session Thursday.
Commissioners will consider signing an agreement between the county, Kansas Department of Transportation and Burlington Northern Santa Fe for work on highway crossing signals at Road 190.
Also, commissioners will consider buying security cameras for the County Courthouse from Kansas Security LLC. Estimated cost is almost $10,000.
Commissioners will also get a presentation from Rob Gilligan, Rick Tidwell and Tyler Curtis as the trio seeks county funds to match what’s called a federal i6 grant and thus develop a Technology Hub in Emporia and across Lyon County. This follows Emporia being named as a finalist for a three-year, $750,000 grant with help from the Center for Rural Innovation if the city can turn in its application by the end of this month.
Five executive sessions are planned.
The meeting starts at 8 am in the County Courthouse.
