Emporia State University’s Libraries and Archives Department is sponsoring a bus tour of one of the city’s historic neighborhoods.
The tours will feature Stringtown, essentially from Sixth north to 12th and Cottonwood east to Whittier. The event also connects to the book “Black Emporia,” detailing African-American experiences in town from 1890 to 1950.
For more information or to reserve seats, call 341-6431. Tour groups should meet at the William Allen White Library’s Learning Commons. Departure times are set for 4:15 and 5:15 pm. Seating is limited, with two 14-seat buses involved.
