Newman Regional Health is in the process of expanding its pharmacy, and it now has two major grants to help facilitate that effort.
Foundation Director Mike Perigo had the announcement on KVOE’s Morning Show on Friday:
Pharmacy Director Ashley Edwards, also on KVOE’s Morning Show this week, says the expansion will help the hospital meet new federal guidance on compounding medications.
Other regulations deal with handling medications that may be hazardous, both to patients and staff.
These grants put the expansion effort at around two-thirds of the way towards the project’s total cost of around $350,000. The hospital’s goal is to expand its floor plan to accommodate new work stations and other systems as required. Work should be completed in November.
