The Emporia State softball team split a doubleheader with Lincoln Friday.
Lincoln won the first game 10-7. Emporia State scored 4 runs in the 1st inning, highlighted by Hanna Steebys’ 2 run home run, to take a 4-2. Lincoln answered with a 8 run 2nd inning.
Emporia State won the 2nd game 9-1. The Lady Hornets scored 2 runs in the 1st inning on a Kenzi Garvin sacrifice bunt and Cassidy Beem double.
They added 4 runs in the 3rd on a throwing error, a Hanna Steeby single, Rachel Kauss double and Maddy Broxterman triple. In the 4th inning Cassidy Beem hit a 3 run home run.
The Lady Hornets are now 5-14 for the season and 1-3 in the MIAA. They are scheduled to play at William Jewell Wednesday.
