This Tuesday, the Kansas Small Business Development Center will have its Emerging and Existing Small Business Award Ceremony. And two Emporia businesses will get special recognition.
The ESU SBDC award winners are both from Emporia. The emerging small business award goes to Ellen Plumb’s City Bookstore. Lisa Brumbaugh, the director of the SBDC office at Emporia State University, says the bookstore was selected because of its diversity of products and services offered, and due to the owner, Marcia Lawrence, self-funding the business’s opening.
The existing small business award was given to Floyd’s Inc. Auto Body and Repair.
Brumbaugh says he Kansas SBDC provides a variety of support tools for small businesses.
The ceremony will begin on Tuesday at the Topeka Capital Rotunda. Both the Kansas House of Representatives and Senate will recognize these sixteen businesses from around the state.
