The Waverly Lady Bulldogs were outscored 54-44 by Thunder Ridge to finish fourth at the 1-A State Tournament.
Thunder Ridge jumped out to an 18-9 first quarter lead and led 27-15 at halftime. Waverly struggled against Thunder Ridge’s perimeter length, turning it over 22 times and were outscored 25-4 on points off turnovers.
Waverly girls’ coach Ty Piper says Thunder Ridge was a very good defensive team that provided them some challenges.
Waverly was led by Junior Megan Foster and Sophomore Kaylyn Vogts with 15 points each. Waverly will graduate just one senior, Lilly McWilliams, and Coach Piper says he is proud of what his team accomplished this year and thinks they have an opportunity to be better next season.
