Energetic, passionate, fun. Those are some of the attributes linked to former Emporia High teacher and basketball coach Bill Linhart after his death Thursday at the age of 72.
Longtime Emporia State men’s basketball coach Ron Slaymaker, now the coach of the Chase County girls basketball program, says Linhart was good at whatever he set his mind to doing, whether it was teaching, playing basketball, coaching or refereeing.
Jeff Longbine was on Linhart’s 1980 Emporia High team that made it to the Class 5A championship game.
A memorial service will be held at 2 pm March 18 at Emporia’s First United Methodist Church.
