Regardless of where the Kiwanis Club of Emporia has held its annual pancake feed, the masses have come and enjoyed. That was the case as well Saturday as the club held its 71st annual pancake breakfast.
Club President-elect Mike Perigo says it was heartening to see the turnout, especially early when showers threatened.
Perigo says the club is “a great cross-section of the community,” with blue-collar workers, college graduates, retirees and all walks of life represented.
Besides club members, volunteers included Circle K members at Emporia State, the Sacred Heart School Builders Club and members of Boy Scout Troop 165.
Fundraising totals should be announced within the next week. Up next for the club is involvement in the National Day of Pancakes fundraiser for the Childrens Miracle Network at IHOP on Tuesday. New club members will be inducted in April.
